Japan 2005 - Summary

April 11th 2005

• 14 hour direct flight to Tokyo
• Watched Sideways and managed to sleep quite a bit

April 12th 2005

• Met up with Dave in the evening
• Made dinner send first message home

April 13th 2005

• Left Tokyo station on a Shinkansen bound for Nagoya
• Arrived at Nagoya and travelled to Aichi and the Expo 2005 site
• Toured around the Expo site
• Back to Nagoya, and then further to Kyoto
• Found the hotel, slept for the evening

April 14th 2005

• Walked South from Hotel to Kyoto Station
• Went East from Kyoto Station to Museum
• Walked North visiting temples, including Kiyomizu-Dera
• Got lost on the mountain, found Shogunzuka
• Walked North to Ginkakuji
• Walked West to the Imperial Palace
• Back to the Kyoto Station and home on the Shinkansen to Tokyo

April 15th 2005

• Rested in the Morning
• Sent Second message home
• Walked around Akihabra and generally took it easy

April 16th 2005

• Flew with Dave and Nori to Naha, Okinawa
• Rented a car and drove north to see Zukimi-jo
• Relaxed in an onsen nearby, returned to Naha
• Ate at a tradional Okinawan resteraunt - pigs hooves and ears
• Drank at the African Bar and retired to our hotel rooms

April 17th 2005

• Caught an early morning ferry to Tokashiki Island
• Stayed at Aharen Beach
• Did some snorkeling

April 18th 2005

• Did some more snorkeling
• Returned to Naha
• Dave and Nori flew home

April 19th 2005

• Walked around Naha
• Walked to Shuri Castle Park, the stone paved-alley, Kinjo Dam, and the Shikinaen Royal Garden
