The Company of the Black Hand

The Company of the Black Hand has existed for centuries in Færûn as part of the Zhentarim. They are a special missions task force, frequently given nigh-impossible tasks by their superiors, but always attaining the desired results. They are a group of hand-picked members from the most loyal of the Black Three's followers.

The Black Three are:

• Bane, Lord of Strife;
• Myrkul, Lord of Bones;
• and Bhaal, Lord of Murder.

Currently, their organization is led by Mandor, a Human Cleric of Bane, proclaiming himself Dark Tyrant. The rest of the organization is broken into three factions:

• Knights of the Black Gauntlet
• Brethren of the Keen Strike
• Knights of the Undying Dragon

Recent Events

The Company of The Black Hand are currently based out of Nartok in Darkon, where they continue to grow in number. Their number one priority is to restore The Dead Three to Godhood. To attain this, they require 20 gallons of sacrificial blood for their ceremony. In attaining this blood, they suffered a major setback in Falkovnia, when two of their key members were murdered, and thier newest cell known as the Ebon Fold, was shut down. Before Bane died, he managed to put a piece of his essence in the Black Bastion, which was located on Acheron. Since the Banedeath, the Black Bastion has been set adrift in the Astral Plane. Mandor has determined that they will also require a stable conduit to the Astral Plane.

With the coming of the Grand Conjunction, Darkon can reach Faerun once again. Many years ago, in the frozen wastes of Vaasa, a powerful artifact known as the Orb of Golden Death was used to create gates to other worlds. The Orb of Golden Death was destroyed, along with the Temple of Elemental Evil in which it resided. However, rumours of recent activity in that region have piqued the interest of the Company of the Black Hand. A contingent of loyal followers have been sent to investigate.
