The Created

Mardi Gras

After a short reprise in Marias d'Tarascon, the party headed for Port D'Elhour where they hoped to catch a boat to the mainland. They arrived amidst a great celebration, a festival called 'Mardi Gras'. Here they met some local townspeople and merchants, and they recieved a room at the local inn. They also met with Roy Cardinal, a great dullard with a soft heart, and an appetite for raw mea. As well, the party met Kuros, a moody man who claimed to be a seasoned warrior.

However, there was trouble amongst the revelry, and a man was discovered murdered - his faced carved hideously into the mask of a clown. The PCs investigated, and all that was found was his sobbing wife and his daughter that was too busy playing with her dolls to notice anything was awry.

Roy befriended the small girl, and she invited them to come to a puppeteers show in the great theatre that evening. The puppet show was a work of genius, put on by Guisseppe and his star puppet, Figlio. At the intermission, the Constable sent his assistant to the Theatre to inform the PCs that he had caught the murderer. Everyone but Elhana went to investigate. It turned out that the Constable had only caught a rowdy reveler.

When the group returned, Elhana and all of the adults were missing! When the show was finished and the curtains rose, Figlio shouted for an attack! Guisseppe grabbed Figlio and fled to the rear of the stage, meanwhile marionettes filled the theatre, the tiny dolls acted without puppeteers - their strings were cut and flailing wildly behind them, and each weilded a tiny silver needle. The dolls attacked many party members and swarmed parents in the theatre.

The puppets swarmed the party, some people managed to flee to the streets where they were pursued by the puppets. Eventually, the puppets were too much for the PCs and they were overwhelmed.

The group awoke in a small birdcage in Guisseppe's workshop... their souls trapped in the bodies of the puppets! Eventually, they managed to escape and discovered some interesting clues as to the nature of the puppets in Guisseppe's notes. They tracked down the location of their bodies, who were inhabited by the conciousness of the puppets!

The Theatre

A final confrontation in the Theatre included defeating the puppet Figlio (who had revealed his true name to be Maligno) and burning the entire theatre to the ground. Guisseppe fled the scene and was never found.

An investigation of the town revealed that almost all of the adults were killed by puppets. They found that von Danzig and some knights from the Order of the Golden Lion had pursued the Company of the Black Hand and may still be in town. In an abandoned warehouse, they found one of the Knights of Torm, mutilated and tortured. At that moment, the party was ambushed and Lyle was murdered. The tortured knight told the group that von Danzig left on a boat for the mainland about a week ago.

Investigation of the harbourmasters' logs revealed that they could be destined to any major port - probably Ludendorf, Mordenshire, or Port-a-Lucine.

A man named Khol who travelled with a group of gypsies came into town asking for help. The party agreed, but only after Khol had a chance to loot the town of all its valuables.
